Phones
"I'm going to hang up this phone and show these people what you don't want them to see... a world without you, without controls and boundries"
After a recent office re-shuffle to allow another 3 blods to join our operation, leaving me with a tiny space left to breath. I have ended up at the far side of the office from my desk phone. This has left me with no phone. This is something that I am actually quite happy with, mainly due to when you speak to people on the phone they have a tendancy to be very abusive and angry, possibly due to something I just said to them about their mothers and sailors. I however think this is probably more to do with being forced to listen to annoying hold music and automated robotic scottish women everytime people phone any corporate scumbag corporation, and just get used to dealing with robots when their on the phone, I swear half time when I'm speaking to people on the phone I'm waiting for them to say press 1 now. "So Wallz are you coming for a swift pint? If yes press 1 now".
What kind of idiot calls me up anyway? I hate getting business phone calls. They make it impossible to procrastinate and you have to write down any information that is delivered, or it gets forgotten. furthermore, if someone promises to do something over the phone, there is no record of that promise
that you can wave to a supervisor later on and say "look! they said they'd do this and they didn't!
that's why the project is screwed, it's not my fault!" Email, people, email. In my experience, only
HR prefer phone calls to email, perhaps because they make a lot of promises they don't want to be
held on, and you wouldn't want to give people the impression you're in HR, would you? Even if you
are. Actually speaking of human resources have they finally given up any pretence of trying to make
us think were people to them rather then objects? What the blazes was wrong with personnel, was it
not harsh and robotic enough for you? Hum I feel a HR post coming up in tthe future maybe. Anyway
remember, telephony - the chosen medium of big fat liars.
